Environmental Barriers to Primary Prevention of Childhood Obesity

Description: Obesity is increasingly becoming a disease of low-income and minority populations within the US and abroad, disproportionately impacting children of color. While much progress has been made at understanding the determinants of obesity in children, development of effective public health approaches has not kept pace. In this symposium we will hear from three distinguished speakers regarding impact of environmental factors on childhood obesity, with solutions for how we can move forward to improve primary prevention in the populations most burdened.
